Mazen H.
Hi all,Since last friday, Windows Live Messenger is not signing me in. It gives me the following error code c0020006 and a link to get more information, and the link doesn't open. The weird thing is that I could sing in from another email! But not from the one I usually use for chatting! The second one has zero contacts.I unistalled and installed again using the 25MB offline installation setup of Windows Live Messenger Version 2009 14.0.8089.726. I cannot install the 1MB online setup from the MSN website, it always gives me a message that I cannot connect to the page. I have the 1mb though, but it's not downloading the messenger, it says that I am not connected to the internet.HELP PLZ!
Hb_Kai
Try these few things:Remove any Internet Explorer proxy server settings 1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools and then click Internet Options. 2. In the Internet Options dialog box, go to the Connections tab. 3. Click LAN Settingsā¦ 4. Untick the Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) checkbox. 5. Click OK and OK again Internet OptionsClick on the Start menu, select Run and type the following:regsvr32 Dssenh.dll Gpkcsp.dll Slbcsp.dll Sccbase.dll

Hb_Kai
A few other things:Clear your TEMP files.Clear the DNS Name Cache:-- 2a. Start > Run > type cmd 2b. At the command prompt, type the following command ipconfig /flushdns Note This command flushes all the DNS entries that have been cached. 2c. Type exit , and then press ENTER to close the command window. Check to see any Firewall settings are blocking Windows Live.Check your computer's clock and date are set correctly. If these don't work, open up Internet Explorer (do not use another browser) and go to http://account.live.com and try to login there. If there's any problem logging in there, let us know what happens.
Mazen H.
Hi,I tried those steps as well and it still doesn't work. The weird thing is that I can sign in using two other hotmail accounts, but not with mine. Logging in to http://account.live.com was pretty normal!
Hb_Kai
It must be some type of authentication problem Are you sure the error code begins with the C though? I thought they all start with "0x".When you try signing in next and it doesn't let you. Click "Troubleshoot" and see if the software can find out what's wrong with it. Apparently, these things may help:- Remove contents of Windows Live Contacts Folder- Remove Windows Live Contacts Folder- Remove contents of Windows Live folder- Remove Windows Live folderAnd don't worry about deleting any of those as Windows Live will make new copies after signing in again. You may also find it helpful to clear your HOSTS file.Do you also get an extended error code? Mazen H.
It just give me that c0020005 error and 'The service is temporarly unavailable - Get more information (link) ' and the link doesn't open!I did every troubleshooting step possible. It must be the contacts folder.I have the 25 MB setup of version 14.0, when I first install it, none of the hotmails accounts can sign. I have a 900kb setup called contacts. When I install it, everyone can sign in but me.

Hb_Kai
Apparently you're needing to update your Windows Live client. There was an update about three days ago if you don't already have that one. Here's the web page:I also took a look on that link: "What can I do about the error message I received" and it doesn't have any error information on the error code you are getting and 10 or so of those links on there are all titled as "Error Code xxxxx : Unable to sign in". Mazen H.
Thank you guys..I am having, since two weeks ago, connection problems with microsoft. The download link could not open. The same thing happened with my coworker here (At the work place, and I live in the same building ==> same connection). He said he could download the 1mb setup at his place and could download the whole setup. I will go to his place and see if it will work.By the way, so far, I could sign in using three different accounts on my version 14, except mine. And I could sign in normally using another laptop! Thanks again. :)
Mazen H.
Hey,It is still not working. I downloaded the newest version from the website. And still the same problem :SAny other hints before I perform a format?
Hb_Kai
Well, if you really don't want to reformat, try aMSN. It's the same thing - Windows Live/MSN-based except with different looks and you can nudge a thousand times without having to wait in between nudges. mocman
The same issue happened to me.I deleted the "%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Live Contacts" directory, and now it is working fine.I think the WLM messes up some contact list files sometimes - but it is stored on the net anyways, so deleting it means no harm to your contact list.
